Infinity War is the most elaborate spinning of plates Marvel has had to execute and they do it damn near flawlessly. It is a perfectly balanced film that thrives on unexpected pairings and modern gods battling across wild set pieces.
The Crazy Rich Asians Trailer is here and we are Excited!
It’s been a week since the Crazy Rich Asians trailer dropped and I can finally calm down! I’ve been waiting for this since 2016. I’ve held my breath and now that’s it’s here, I couldn’t be happier.
Rampage, A Man and His Ape
Rampage puts The Rock front and center with a big goofy ape and it’s a pretty stupid fun ride. He has solidified his ability to not just rake in millions and put butts in the theaters, but he’s proven he can do it with the most unexpected, unasked for properties.
I Dare You… To NOT See Truth or Dare. No, I Beg You!
The writing is clunky, the plotting nonsensical, and the entire conceit laughable. Movies (horror especially) can get by with having just style or just substance but to lack both is unforgivable. Unfortunately, Truth or Dare was absolute garbage.
A Quiet Place Keeps Audiences Silent & on the Edge of Their Seats
Overall, A Quiet Place is not nearly as horror driven as one would expect from the trailers and the poster. But it is unnerving. As someone who rarely can sit through a horror film, this one was an enticing watch.
Ready Player One – A Better Work Than the Book, But That’s Not Saying Much
A lot is being made of Ready Player One as a ‘dumb popcorn flick.’ Spielberg is masterful at setting up his action, there’s no doubt there and he can imbue a movie with that sense of wonder, but he can only polish a turd so far.
Pick Up ‘The Shape of Water,’ out on Blu-Ray Now!
For anyone who unreservedly adored the film, this pick-up is a no-brainer. There are so many small details and thoughtful elements packing into the extras that it can only deepen and expand appreciation for The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro’s love letter to monsters (literally).
Venture Back to A Galaxy Far, Far Away With the Blu-Ray Release of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’
The Last Jedi has some amazing scenes, unexpectedly great humor, and one of the best casts of characters to ever grace the Star Wars franchise. It is available digitally and in a blu-ray combo pack today!
Pacific Rim: Uprising Makes Up Its Missteps and Continues to Be Kaiju Fighting Fun
Pacific Rim Uprising is fun, even if it doesn’t quite recapture the surprising delight of the original. It has its low moments, but it keeps chugging along despite them and makes up for those missteps.
Love, Simon Showcases Teens at Their Best and Worst
‘Love, Simon’ is funny and if you’re looking for a coming of age tale (and a gay one at that!) that isn’t too trope-y or tragic you are in for a treat. It’s a fun teenage comedy, and you’ll find yourself caring for all of these kids.
