Outer Banks (OBX) Season 4 Part 2 is almost here, and Nerdophiles had the pleasure of chatting with stars Jonathan Daviss (Do Revenge) and Austin North (I Didn’t Do It) about what lies ahead for their respective characters Pope Heyward and Topper after that explosive cliffhanger of a part 1 finale! Read our conversation here:

On Topper’s growth and empathy as the season expands, North told us: “18 months has passed when the show returns and that immature rivalry between the Kooks and the Pogues is not what it used to be, at least not for Topper. And I think you see that character development at that moment with the turtle hatch on the beach and how he made peace with John B. (Chase StokesThe First). Topper is in a space where he doesn’t want any drama but JJ (Rudy PankowSolved) just threatened him and all of the Kooks at the end of that scene, so we’ll have to see where that goes.”

On Topper’s real estate mogul goals, North teased: “Well, I can’t give too much away, but there’s that scene with Rafe (Drew StarkeyLove, Simon) where they discuss how you can’t make money in medicine and he’s got this plan to take over that property and Topper’s on his side quest.”

On Pope’s ever-growing and changing relationship with Cleo after Terrance’s death, Daviss shared: ” Cleo (Carlacia GrantGreenleaf) is going to be dealing with the loss of somebody who was a father figure to her. When she gets into that mode, she’s focused on Revenge. Pope knows the only path to Revenge is through this treasure hunt. He wants to stay close and comfort her as much as possible. He’s in this relationship with someone that he deeply loves, and they both saw this tragedy happen right before their eyes, so as the season goes on and she gets closer to her goal of Revenge, I don’t want to say it’ll put a strain on them, but they’ll have to deal with it.”

On Pope’s evolution and the tension between him and JJ this season, Daviss said: “I think JJ has a lot to deal with this season. He’s got a crazy revelation, so I think he’ll be dealing with that. But, you know, they do find time to come to a bit of an understanding with each other and see what their relationship has been like. But, this season is moving a mile a minute, so those moments are snuck in.”

On whether the Blackbeard mystery is close to being solved, Daviss hinted: “The one thing about the OBX is, whenever you think you’re close to solving a mystery, something else pops up. Our writers are good at keeping the twists and turns moving and the plot going forward. There’s a lot going on in these last five episodes, and I’m excited for everybody just see where it goes with the Blackbeard mystery.”

On their favorite scene in part 2, North revealed: “I can say I have a scene with John B. where tensions are high, and you know that war is kind of back on, and you see them go at it a little bit. But, yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing that tension.”

Daviss added: “I think it’s the finale. I liked how we shot it; I think it’s the biggest episode we’ve ever done. So that finale is going to be a doozy!”

One thing about OBX is that it does not disappoint, and we cannot wait to see how Season 4 wraps up!
