Nerdophiles enjoyed an exclusive interview with The Irrational’s Travina Springer (Ms. Marvel) on the exciting developments for Kylie, her character’s growth, and the potential for love in season 2!
On what we can expect from Kylie’s continued work with the FBI this season and if this work will be fulfilling and the purpose-driven career Kylie dreamt of, Springer told us: “At the end of season one, Kylie began questioning her career path and ultimately decided to take a contracting position with the FBI’s cyber department. This season, we’ll see Kylie more deeply immersed in cases where she truly showcases her cybersecurity skills and hacking expertise.”
Springer continued: “But this job with the FBI also allows Kylie to relate with Marisa (Maahra Hill, Delilah), and their relationship blossoms in new ways. It also allows her to collaborate with her brother Alec (Jesse L. Martin, The Flash) and strengthen their bond. But will this work fulfill Kylie’s deeper desire for purpose? We’re set to find out as the season unfolds.”
On the cases we’ll see Kylie assist on this season, as well as some of the more thrilling parts she was proud to bring to life for Kylie, Springer said: “There are so many good ones! The cases where Kylie shines and gets to use her skills to save the day are the most exciting. Beyond the action, the family dynamics in these cases make them relatable. And so my favorite cases are those where she and Alec collaborate closely.”
On what Kylie desires in this next phase of her life apart from her career, Springer added: “Kylie’s inspired by her brother’s relationship, and now that she feels fulfilled at work, she’s ready to explore her romantic possibilities. While her relationship with Alec will always be essential to the storylines, we will explore who she is apart from him.”
On whether or not Kylie’s afraid to fall in love because of how tragic things end for the partners on the show, Springer laughingly told us: “Kylie could probably benefit from seeing a therapist! But you’re right; she has some complex trauma. But she’s resilient, hopeful, and optimistic. Despite everything she’s been through, Kylie remains open to love and connection. Kylie’s queer, so it’ll be great to dive into her dating experiences more this season.”
Season Two promises to be a turning point for Kylie as she balances her purpose-driven work with the FBI collaborates on high-intensity cases with her brother Alec and goes on a quest to deepen her emotional bonds in a romantic capacity. With more exciting cases and deeper explorations of family dynamics, fans won’t want to miss a single episode!
The siblings’ collaboration adds emotional depth to the high-intensity cases, making the season even more engaging for viewers.
