Nerdophiles had the pleasure of chatting with Creator Amanda Peet, and the illustrious cast of the new Netflix limited series, The Chair! The Chair follows Professor Ji-Yoon Kim (Sandra Oh) who is the first woman chair of the English department at Pembroke. In addition to climbing her way to the top, she has to now manage her colleagues who are also her friends. Of course, she’s a mom balancing life, love, and scandal at Pembroke. Through the lens of dark comedy, the show is full of complex relationships with education and reform at the center. Professor Kim has a great gang of deeply layered and flawed characters in Professor Joan Hambling (Holland Taylor), Bill Dobson (Jay Duplass), Elliot Rentz (Bob Balaban), and Yasmin McKay (Nana Mensah).
