Girls can do anything they set their minds to including starting their own small businesses like the girls in Brian Weisfeld and Nicole C. Kear’s The Startup Squad series! Initially brought together by chance (and a school lemonade stand competetion), the Startup Squad members – Resa, Didi, Harriet, and Amelia – find themselves on a series of adventures that require innovative thinking and business savvy. My six year old and I have been reading the first book outloud at bedtime and we’ve really been enjoying it. There’s a great message about friendship and looking past first opinions as well as realizing that fun and friends are more important than winning. We’ve loving it so far — and we’re probably going to have to check out Nicole C. Kear’s Fix-It Friends series next!
About The Startup Squad
Brian Weisfeld, the Founder and Chief Squad Officer of The Startup Squad, an initiative dedicated to helping girls reach their potential, teams up with Fix-It Friends author Nicole C. Kear to present this middle-grade series about friendship and entrepreneurship.
Operating a lemonade stand is just the beginning for Resa, Harriet, Didi, and Amelia, as these savvy, business-minded schoolgirls learn that good business isn’t just about making a profit, but about making friends. Each book features tips from the Startup Squad and an inspirational profile of a girl entrepreneur.
