Nerdophiles was on hand to speak with Angel Manuel Soto, director of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival hit, Charm City Kings. Adapted from the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys, Charm City Kings is the coming-of-age story of Mouse (Jahi Di’Allo Winston, The Upside), a young kid who has just lost his older brother and desperately wants to get into a Baltimore biker gang, to not only honor his brother but also for a sense of family, community, and street clout. A Veterinarian in the making, Mouse’s journey through grief and path to growth is filled with mistakes, love, friendship, and tragedy. Even with the guidance fo several older male figures, Mouse has to learn some difficult life lessons stemming from his own choices.
