While congoers are still awaiting the fate of San Diego Comic Con 2020, we’ve known for a while that Wondercon 2020 was one of the many conventions this season that was being postponed. Thankfully, Comic Con International has put together WonderCon@Home and the SDCC Unofficial Blog has also made it easier than ever to celebrate WonderCon at home this weekend! It’s a great way to support small press, your favorite artists, and score some online exclusives without having to wait in line!
Never fear if you already had this weekend blocked out for WonderCon 2020, CCI has put together this virtual convention promising “videos, activity and coloring sheets, Zoom meeting backgrounds, a cosplay challenge, a one-of-a-kind print at home badge.” There is also an online merch store with exclusives and a virtual Exhibit Hall, Artist Alley, Small Press space, and Fan Groups page. Keep checking the CCI website for all the Wondercon@Home activities happening this weekend!
Virtual attendees can kick off the weekend by printing out their own Wondercon@Home badge to commemorate the weekend and add to their badge collection. This is sure to (hopefully) be a one-of-a-kind badge memory for avid congoers. And if attendees want to pick up exclusive 2020 merchandise, they can check out the store for pins, t-shirts, bags, hats, and more!
Cosplayers can enter for a chance to be featured on the official CCI website by participating in the Wondercon@Home Official Cosplay Challenge. To enter, post a photo of yourself in all-ages appropriate cosplay on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, then tag WonderCon and add the hashtag #WCA2020. Ten cosplayers will be chosen at random to be posted on the CCI website with their social media handles. There are already some amazing entries!
If you miss the thrill of shopping at the Exhibit Hall, take a look at the virtual Artists’ Alley, Small Press, and Fan Group pages. For each exhibitor that they received information from, CCI included a short description, any deals or exclusives they’re offering, and a link to their website. It’s a great time to support your favorite convention exhibitor with a little extra cash if you’ve got it.
Check out WonderCon on their website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook all weekend for activities, contests, exclusives, and more!
Unofficially, the SDCC Unofficial Blog has put together a ton of spotlights for Wondercon and is an easy place to find contests and exclusives for WonderCon at home. They have put together their own virtual schedule of events, as well as when certain exclusives are going on sale. Check out their list of artists accepting commissions and get a one of a kind piece of art without waiting in line! You can participate in their online scavenger hunt to be entered to win some great prizes. And if you’re missing panels, you can check out their own special Telethon event happening right now on Youtube! Follow their hashtag #WonderConOnline on Twitter for everything going on this weekend.
