With the Lunar New Year right around the corner, Asians and Asian Americans across the world are getting ready to ring in the new year with food, celebration, and getting those red envelopes! January 25th marks the beginning of The Year of the Rat, and Birds of Prey star Ella Jay Basco (“Cassandra Cain”) is wishing us a happy new year.
Obviously we couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming new film from DC. Not only does it bring back our favorite Harley Quinn, but it features Cathy Yan as director. Yan, Chinese-American, is the very first Asian woman to direct a DC film or any US superhero movie! Additionally, the film is written by Hapa Asian American screenwriter Christina Hodson and stars the Filipino-Korean newcomer Ella Jay Basco.
The hype is real and we are counting down the days until February 7th, 2020 for the release of Birds of Prey.
