Pennyworth has slipped into San Diego Comic Con this weekend with an off-site activation at the Pendry. Fans will be transported back to the world of 1960’s London where where secret agents and societies roam. The Pennyworth lounge from DC and Epix is a nice break from the insanity of the convention.
If you’re interested in checking out the lounge, head out into the Gaslamp to the Pendry hotel. The entrance is at 435 Fifth Ave (Fifth + J street). It is set up like a true club, with security and an entry line. Those who wait patiently will be guided down the stairs into a basement lounge bathed in reds and blacks.
Upon entry, you’ll receive a complimentary cookie and drink (fruit punch!). There’s places to hang out and lounge if you’re wanting to take a load off to enjoy your treats. There’s a stage where real singers come out to serenade visitors while they hang out.
Make your way further into the lounge and you can play blackjack for the chance to win a Pennyworth poster, talk to a gangster about that Raven Society, and get a poem written just for you. Once you’ve had your fill of the lounge (and you’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like) you can make your way toward the exit.
The exit happens to be through a dungeon, where fans can sit in a torture chair and get their photo taken. To top it all off, if you download the Epix app you will get a free Raven Society pin!
