This holiday weekend, September 2nd-4th, the Javits Convention Center in NYC will be packed with Star Trek fans as they check out ReedPop’s latest event. The three days of the convention will be filled with panels, autograph opportunities, costumes, and hopefully some information on Star Trek: Discovery, set to hit our television screens next year.
From the press release earlier this year:
This three-day event will be the ultimate destination for Star Trek fans, filled with interactive exhibits, exclusive merchandise, celebrity guests, panels, screenings and much more. Its creation adds to a year filled with Star Trek events and experiences celebrating the franchise’s milestone 50th anniversary. Star Trek: Mission New York will take place September 2-4 at the Javits Center in Manhattan.
Star Trek fans are some of the oldest, and span multiple generations thanks to the spin-offs and various reincarnations. With the third in the latest movie series having hit theaters earlier this year, and the 50th anniversary of the original series upon it, it was clearly time to hold a celebration that Star Trek fans will embrace with open arms.
In attendance will be a number of talented guests, from stars of the various shows and rebooted movies, to Rod Roddenberry and Adam and Julie Nimoy. There will also be tributes to the greats that were lost in the past years, including Leonard Nimoy and the recent terribly sad passing of Anton Yelchin. Star Trek: Mission NY won’t be quite the same without them, but their legacies will live on as new fans are drawn into the world of Star Trek.
Ultimately, the convention will celebrate the fans who have followed the franchise from its humble beginnings to where it is now:
“Star Trek fans set the gold standard of what these type of experiential events are all about, truly establishing this industry that we’ve been so proud to be a part of,” said Lance Fensterman, Global Senior Vice President of ReedPOP. “Star Trek: Mission New York will be a completely unique fan event unlike anything seen before, giving them the chance to go beyond panels and autograph signings, and immerse themselves in the Star Trek universe.”
VIP tickets are sold out, but regular single day and weekend tickets are still available for purchase HERE. Unlike ReedPOP’s other events, tickets will be available onsite for a slightly higher price than the pre-show price available now. If anyone needs help getting around New York City, ReedPOP has provided a helpful Travel Guide to get people to and from the convention. The best part? Since the convention is in the heart of Manhattan, con goers will have a chance to experience the New York City nightlife after the convention closes for the night.
This will not be a convention you will want to miss, and Nerdophiles will be bringing you up to date coverage as we take on Star Trek: Mission NY. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to keep up with the biggest news right as it breaks.
