We’ve scoured the SDCC schedule for Saturday so you don’t have to and we’ve found the biggest, baddest panels around. (And we threw in some fun, smaller panels, too.) Saturday is a jam-packed day full of all kinds of great events in addition to the regular schedule of panels. Take a look at what we’re excited about and let us know what you’ll be checking out!
DCTV fans take note: Today is a very big day for them. They’ll be taking over Ballroom 20 basically all day with panels for Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Flash, and Arrow all running in rapid succession.
Also, in addition to all these panels and events, the annual Comic-Con International Masquerade begins at 8:00 PM! You don’t want to miss it. It’ll be held in Ballroom 20 once DCTV clears out.
I Read It Before (and After) It Was A Movie 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM @ Room 7AB
These days it’s almost like every popular book is being turned into a movie. And every popular movie or series is getting it’s own books! Gather together with panel of authors to discuss the process of developing a book for film – and, in a few cases, adapting a film to the page. Guests include James Dashner, Ransom Riggs, Scott Westerfield, Peter David, and more.
Causeplay: Fans Helping Their Communities 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM @ Pacific 24, North Tower, Marriott Marquis & Marina
Love cosplay? Want to make a difference in your community? This panel is all about giving back through cosplay. The panelists will help you make the most of volunteer opportunities such as hospital visits, charity drives, and more. Cosplay doesn’t have to be limited to just conventions! Dress up year-round and do some good at the same time.
Rise of the Fangirls 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM @ 25ABC
Celebrate the rise of woman and their increased representation in all things geeky. A great panel of girl geeks will be on hand including Jamie Broadax from Black Girl Nerds and Sam Maggs, who wrote the Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy. Definitely worth a look!
Warner Bros. Pictures 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM @ Hall H
It’s Warner Bros. back again in Hall H! If you’re a Hall H fanatic then this is one of the top panels of the weekend to look forward to. Warner Bros. will be bringing Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and more to this year’s convention. Expect some big name stars and some great Q&As!
Pokemon GO Meet-Up 12:00 PM @ Balboa Park
Almost as soon as Pokemon GO hit the app stores there was a clamoring for a San Diego meet-up during SDCC. I won’t lie – I was hoping for one, too! This Pokemon GO meet up is a CASUAL MEET-UP and not in any way sponsored by the people behind the addicting game. It’s just a good opportunity to meet up with other fans and team members to catch some Pokemon that may not be native to your home area.
The Orginals Special Video Presentation and Q&A 12:50 PM – 1:30 PM @ Indigo Ballroom
Fans of The Originals should be excited for this panel! The cast and creators of the series will be on hand to answer your pressing questions and to present a special video presentation which may hint at some of what’s to come in the fourth season.
Star Trek 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM @ Hall H
Bryan Fuller moderates a panel that includes two captains of the Enterprise and a handful of other Star Trek favorites. Not only will the panel highlight the series’ 50 year history but hopefully Bryan Fuller will give us some insight into what we can expect from the upcoming CBS All Access series beginning next year!
Wynonna Earp 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM @ 24ABC
We love, love, love Wynonna Earp and it’s fabulous cast. If you only make it to one TV panel this should be it! They are a fantastic group of people and the series is a lot of fun. Hopefully they’ll have some good news for us at SDCC since sadly the series hasn’t been officially picked up by Syfy for a second season yet. Here’s hoping!
30th Anniversary of Dark Horse 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM @ 7AB
Star Trek isn’t the only one having a birthday this year. Dark Horse Comics is celebrating 30 years in the industry at SDCC this year! Come learn about all of Dark Horse’s exciting new comics and join in the discussion with the publisher’s awesome creators. It’ll be a great panel for comic fans!
Supergirl Special Video Presentation and Q&A 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM @ Ballroom 20
Supergirl is finally coming home to the CW where she’s belonged all along! We’re super excited for her to join the rest of the DCTV series and we can’t wait to see what they have to say about the upcoming season and what’s going to come next as Superman joins the series!
The Magicians 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM @ Indigo Ballroom
One of the greatest series on Syfy at the moment, the first season of The Magicians was an absolute joy. Based on the series by Lev Grossman, The Magicians offered a hard-hitting commentary on our own nostalgia for series like The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. The end of the first season was shocking – and we can’t wait to hear more about what’s coming next!
Legends of Tomorrow Special Video Presentation and Q&A 4:15 PM – 5:00 PM @ Ballroom 20
After the events of last season the show may be in for a bit of a cast shake up. What does the future hold for the quirky, time traveling series? Only time – and perhaps this panel – will tell!
Timeless Pilot Screening and Q&A 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM @ Room 6A
Speaking of time travel series, you can get your first look at Timeless on Saturday! Join the excellent cast and show runners as they screen the full pilot for attendees at this year’s convention. And then join them after for a brief Q&A about the new show.
Flash Video Presentation and Q&A 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM @ Ballroom 20
Barry Allen and the rest are back again this year and continue DCTV’s domination over Ballroom 20 on Saturday. The second season was a real rollercoaster of emotions and we all learned that only bad things come from messing with the time stream. Next season is bound to be a doozy! Learn some of the details from the cast and show runners themselves during the Flash panel!
Arrow Special Video Presentation and Q&A 5:45 PM – 6:30 PM @ Ballroom 20
After the Flash panel, stick around for the Arrow panel immediately after! (Seriously, it’s non-stop DCTV in Ballroom 20 on Saturday.) Considering the events of last season you have to imagine this is going to be one hell of a panel to sit in on. It’s a must-see for Arrow fans that’s for sure!
San Diego ZombieWalk 6:00 PM @ The Gaslamp District
If you haven’t checked out the annual SDCC tradition that is the ZombieWalk, this is the last year you’ll be able to do it (never fear though, word is the Zombie Walk will turn into the Dino Walk next year). So check it out while you still can! The starting location has yet to be determined but keep an eye on the Facebook page as it should be announced any day now.
Riverdale Pilot Screening and Q&A 6:30 PM – 7:25 PM @ Room 6BCF
Archie and the gang are hitting the small screen this season! Come check out the pilot episode and then have a sit down Q&A with the cast and show runners who are bringing the long-running, beloved comic series to life.
Frequency Pilot Screening and Q&A 7:25 PM – 8:20 PM @ Room 6BCF
Stick around after the Riverdale panel to check out the pilot of another upcoming series, Frequency! Based on the film of the same name, Frequency will be a new kind of procedural series – one that traverses time. The movie was great and very touching so we have to imagine the series will be, too.
Season 2 World Premiere Screening of Ash vs Evil Dead 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM @ Room 6DE
Want to get an early look at the second season of Ash vs The Evil Dead? You’re in luck. The first episode will premiere at SDCC and you can watch it along with the cast and show runners. You should also check out the panel which is also on Saturday from 6:45 PM – 7:45 PM in Room 6A!
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is Back 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM @ Room 24ABC
After a very successful Kickstarter campaign, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is back! Rather, it’s coming back. Joel Hodgson and Felicia Day among others are on hand to talk about the road ahead and what to look forward to in the series’ eleventh season!
The Final Girls Screeing 11:55 PM @ Ken Cinema ($8.50)
Though it’s been out for a while now, The Final Girls movie is getting a big push at this year’s convention complete with an ice cream truck and midnight screening. The screening isn’t free but it will have the two co-writers on board to introduce the film which is pretty cool. And if nothing else it’s a pretty hilarious movie so it’s more than worth checking out if you’ve got a free night! They also have a panel at 5:30 PM on Saturday at the Horton Grand Theatre.
