It’s that time again, folks, when Portland gets their geek on and descends on the Oregon Convention Center to enjoy some good old fashioned convention fun. Rose City Comic Con is happening this weekend, September 19th and 20th, and Nerdophiles is going to be there to capture every fun and exciting moment! Convention hours Saturday are 10am – 7pm, with Sunday running from 10am – 5pm. With a host of celebrity guests, a bunch of local artists, and more vendors than you can shake a stick at, it is shaping up to be a good show. Check out our weekend highlights below to see what caught our eye on this year’s schedule.
Saturday
Star Trek with Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig

Hang out with two members of the original Star Trek cast as they re-live some of their finest moments and share stories from the set.
Dark Horse Comics: Comic Collaborations: Barb Wire vs. King Tiger

Our wonderful friends at Dark Horse Comics will have two of their creators in the house to discuss the different ways to create a comic. Anyone looking to break into the industry won’t want to miss it.
Grimm with Silas Weir Mitchell and Reggie Lee

It wouldn’t be a Portland Convention without a couple members of the Grimm cast (filmed on location in Portland, Oregon). Silas Weir Mitchell and Reggie Lee will be present to answer questions and discuss both the past and future of Grimm.
Agents of SHIELD with Elizabeth Henstridge and Brett Dalton

Any Marvel fans will definitely want to get to panel room one early to snag a good seat for the Agents of SHIELD panel. Nerdophiles will be there, and will be live-tweeting the event so be sure to follow us on TWITTER.

Join Kelly Sue DeConnick (Pretty Deadly) and a host of other top creators as they discuss the importance of representation in comics.
Inside Laika

Laika Studios, a local animation studio, will be present at Rose City to discuss some of what goes on behind the scenes. A lot of work goes into what they do, and the final product is often a masterpiece.

Geekfest Film Fest Year 2

The Wil Wheaton Hour

You know him, you probably love him, and he’ll be hanging out again at Rose City Comic Con hamming it up with the audience. One of the biggest personalities in the geek world, his panel is bound to be a hoot.
Dark Horse Manga

Anime and manga more your thing? Dark Horse has got you covered in a panel that explores the publisher’s relationship with Japanese comics.
Hearing Voices with Zach Callison, Olivia Olson, William Salyers, and Veronica Taylor

If you watched cartoons as a kid, or even as an adult, odds are you’ll recognize these special voices. From Steven Universe to Pokemon, these voice actors and actresses are ready to answer your questions.
Comics and Twitter: How to Hang Out without Being an Annoying Jerk

This panel is for any creator trying to tackle the social media beast, without trying to alienate a potential fan base. A number of Twitter veterans chime in to help form your social media plan of attack.
Take My Money – A Nerd Retail Panel

I’m suspicious that this may actually be a big ruse by my family to trick me into an intervention regarding my insane fandom spending habits… but on the off chance it isn’t, it sounds like a great time to talk toys and other nerd related products with a bunch of other helplessly addicted geeks.
