It can be difficult to create a riveting, understandable time travel story, but Syfy’s new television show 12 Monkeys, based off of the 1995 film of the same name, captures the suspense and originality of the time travel genre, all while creating engaging characters and relationships. Time travel in 12 Monkeys is a bit messy, but that’s what makes it even more appealing and desirable. Executive producers and creators Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who have previously worked on shows such as Terra Nova and Nikita, have created a clever, dramatic time travel thriller that you don’t want to miss.
Last season, Cassandra found herself stranded in the future with Jones, Deacon, and the army of the twelve monkeys. Meanwhile in the past, Cole and Ramse had a short reconciliation and may be forced to work together in the near future. In a surprise turn of events, Jennifer was seen in possession of the deadly virus and viewers were left to wonder if she is truly responsible for releasing the virus in the future.
Additionally, it was recently announced that Michael Hogan, notable for his role as Saul Tigh in Battlestar Galactica, will be guest starring as a close friend of Dr. Jones on 12 Monkey’s season season. Emily Hampshire, Todd Stashwick, and Barbara Sukowa have all been boosted to series regulars for season two, so expect more of Jennifer Goines, Deacon, and Jones.
