If anyone’s ever told you the myth that “sex kills,” this might be what they’re talking about.
It Follows stars Maika Monroe, coming off of a stellar turn in The Guest, as a girl that must save herself and her friends from a curse that spreads like an STD and attracts something sinister.
The horror film, from director David Robert Mitchell (The Myth of the American Sleepover), has wowed audiences at Cannes, TIFF, and AFI Fest. In this new trailer we can see why. The film looks, and sounds, beautifully eerie; like a throwback to classic John Carpenter.
Horror has really found a resurgence in indie cinema; this past year saw great films like A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, The Babadook, Ti West’s The Sacrament, and many more. If you’re a horror fan, or just a fan of interesting films, be sure to check out some indie horror. Based on the trailer alone, It Follows has already become one of my most anticipated movies of 2015.
It Follows is set to premiere at Sundance in January, but expect to see it in theaters by March.
