As kids, who didn’t watch My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke? Now you can relive your childhood with the Studio Ghibli Fest! Each month, GKIDS in partnership with Fathom Events is presenting a Hayao Miyazaki masterpiece to theaters across the country.
Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki created some classic animated features, ranging from children’s films to the Academy-Award winning Spirited Away. The Studio Ghibli Festival will feature six films, with one film screening each month. Each film will be screened with both dubbed and subtitled versions. If you have a preference when you buy your ticket, make sure to pay attention to which version is screening at that time.
June and July featured My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. Here’s what the rest of the year has in store:
- August 27th, 28th, and 30th: Castle In The Sky
- September 24th, 25th, and 27th: NausicaƤ of the Valley In The Wind
- October 29th, 30th, and November 1st: Spirited Away
- November 26th, 27th, and 29th: Howl’s Moving Castle
If you’ve never seen a Miyazaki film on the big screen, you are missing out! While visiting family in Japan, I saw Ponyo on the big screen and the ocean scene was one of the best large-scale animated sequences I’ve ever seen. So pick a date and go to the movies!
