This Wednesday CW new show ‘The Tomorrow People’ premiers at 9pm Eastern Time. Before then let’s get up to speed on everything you need to know about the newest teen sci-fi series.

‘The Tomorrow People’ is an adaptation of the British series of the same name which ran from 1973 to 1979. It follows a group of young people who, through human evolution, have extra-ordinary powers.

Our protagonist is Stephen Jameson (played by Robbie Amell), who from the trailer we can see is not having it easy what with “sleepwalking” into other people’s beds and also the small matter of hearing voices in his head. His life is turned upside-down when he firstly discovers that he has the power to teleport and secondly that he is part of a genetically advanced race with others who have super awesome powers just like he does.

But these super awesome powers come with some not so super awesome problems, namely a group of parliamentary scientists known as ‘Ultra’ who have made it their mission to hunt down these groups of people (dubbed ‘The Tomorrow People’). They are led by Dr Jedikiah Price, also known as Lucifer (Mark Pallegrino) from CW’s ‘Supernatural’.

The show is produced by Phil Klemmer (‘Chuck’), Julie Plec (‘The Vampire Diaries’) and Greg Berlanti (‘Arrow’)

Not to put anyone off but I don’t have high hopes for this show. The plot doesn’t entice me enough to get excited about it and I feel that it isn’t going to bring anything new to the screen. A white, male protagonists is an outcast at school but one day discovers he has super powers and with them he’ll rise to become a hero. I’m pretty sure this is the synopsis of most western media.

Also I do not trust anything Julie Plec is involved in because she has let me down one too many times with ‘The Vampire Dairies’. I just can’t put my trust in her any more, my heart just won’t be able to take it.

Saying that I would love to be pleasantly surprised and I have been before so let’s see how this show fares when it airs this Wednesday.
